PHIL COLLINS who was born on January 31, 1951, in London, England already started to play drum since he was 5 years old. He could follow the tune of the music that he listen through TV or radio. That is why when he enter school, he was known as band player in his school and having his own group named The Real Thing and also joined a group called The Freeholdafter.
The first record he made, has titled “Lying Crying Dying”, afterwards he made a new group name Flaming Youth. Their album Ark II, was premiered at the London Planetarium and received lots of awards and later the name of the band changes become Genesis. However it doesn’t have so much success. In five years Collins still played drums, he was also singing , writing a song and arranging the song, he also played sessions, but in general he helped Genesis become the leading lights in the Progressive rock field. Genesis eventually become very well known and a lot of people love their song.
Walt Disney even asked him in to compose the songs for their animated feature “Tarzan”, and it was a major US hit and earned him a prestigious Oscar award. They even threw in another Grammy and a Golden Globe. He is currently working on three new Disney projects.
